Human Hybrids

A long time ago, the Earth was submerged by the water of the oceans. Human beings, to survive, needed to transform. Gradually, they began to resemble more and more amphibians. Some parts of the body, such as the head and back, were covered with scales and others remained unchanged.

Thus hybrid beings were formed. They lived both on submerged islands and in the sea. They called themselves warriors because they had managed to survive in those extreme conditions.

In that apocalyptic scenario could they still be defined as human beings?
